Naked Wines raises $500,000 for local farmworker communities hit by Northern California fires

Naked Wines, the online crowd-funding platform, has raised over half a million dollars to help local winemaker communities hit by the California wildfires in Napa and Sonoma Counties, where thousands of families have lost their homes and workplaces.

The $500,000 will go to those who need it the most – the hard working folks working in the fields and the cellars to actually MAKE the wine. $150,000 has already been deployed to organisations in Napa County and Sonoma County, including the Napa Valley Community Foundation, the Community Foundation Sonoma Valley and the Latino Community Foundation. These organisations provide emergency services including; access to health and trauma care, medical professionals, a safe place to sleep, emergency aid for children and removing hazardous ash and debris in impacted neighbourhoods. They also provide recovery services including economic and rental assistance, shelter and legal services.

The total $500,000 was raised by Naked Wines, Angels and Winemakers across the USA, UK and Australia:

  • com donated $100,000
  • US Naked Angels raised a further $290,000 from thousands of individual donations
  • UK Angels contributed $70,000
  • Australian Angel funded winemakers contributed $70,000

Nick Devlin, President of Naked Wines USA commented: “Reaching the $500,000 milestone is an incredible achievement for the Angels. We are very proud of how our Angels across the world have come together to support those who need it the most.

Many of the people who do the hard work in the cellars, vineyards and our local community have been left devastated by the fires, they are the unsung heroes of the Californian wine business and in many cases have lost their homes and jobs. The fires have hit them the hardest and we are doing what we can to get this incredible winemaking country back on its feet.

We are overwhelmed with the donations so far and can’t thank our Angels enough for their generosity.”

The Napa Valley Community Foundation. Terence Mulligan, President of the Foundation said: “ proves that individual small contributions really add up to make an incredibly significant difference to those in need during these fires.

We are tremendously grateful for the incredible generosity of the company and its customers.”

Naked Wines are continuing to donate 100% of the sales proceeds of our cellar crew wines to this cause:
